On August 19th, World Humanitarian Day 2023 is taking place to honour humanitarian efforts and the work of individuals and organisations that help people in need. Each year, this day offers an opportunity to recognise the humanitarian personnel who have sacrificed or risked their lives in the pursuit of humanitarian causes.

Twenty years ago, on August 19, 2003, a tragic event occurred in which 22 lives were lost, including the UN’s High Commissioner of Human Rights, due to a bombing at the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq.

Humanitarian workers often operate in conflict zones or areas devastated by natural disasters, providing life-saving assistance to suffering people while risking their lives.

At McAndrew, we work closely with humanitarian workers and organisations as an international Development Consultancy, empowering the orgnisations to effectively fulfil their missions, expand their impact, and strategise for long-term sustainability. We honour humanitarians all over the world and reaffirm our commitment to strive to end inequality and uplift the lives of the world’s most vulnerable communities, in collaboration with those humanitarians.

This year, the United Nations has launched the World Humanitarian Day campaign to mark the twentieth anniversary of the attack on the UN headquarters in Iraq and to demonstrate their commitment to delivering for the communities they serve, no matter who, no matter where and #NoMatterWhat.

Join the campaign and reflect on the importance of compassion, empathy, and solidarity for a better world.
